Inspired by the ‘Carriage Cadavre Exquis’ scarf design. Lancut Castle, located in the town of Lancut in Poland, houses one of the most exquisite and extensive collections of horse-drawn carriage harnesses in Europe. Due to its close relationship with Hermès, the castle’s museum also holds a complete set of harnesses crafted by Hermès. The designer of this pattern, Jan Bajtlik, like many Poles, has visited the castle frequently since childhood. He selected images of twenty carriages, each split into two halves, then creatively recombined them at random, playing a visual game of assembly—what he calls ‘Carriage Cadavre Exquis’ (Voitures exquises). By simply folding the scarf, one can find the corresponding half of each carriage, completing the original carriage image through this playful ‘puzzle’ connection.
