On top of this, dispersed dyes are applied to achieve an authentic gradient effect as seen in the original. This is accomplished by first printing the desired pattern onto transfer paper using dispersed dyes and printing ink, then transferring it onto the fabric at approximately 210°C (400T) under high temperature, where the dye sublimates and bonds with the textile. Disperse dyes are unique in their ability to sublimate, making them the only suitable option for thermal transfer printing—thus limiting this technique to fabrics composed of fibers that have affinity for such dyes. After heat transfer, the garment returns to the embroidery machine, where thick-needle stitching adds decorative details over the Dior logo, creating a hand-embroidered, rugged aesthetic.
